The Stockton Police Officer's Association is a non-profit organization that was formed in 1914 to support current and retired sworn members of the Stockton Police Department. Originally called the Stockton Police Widows and Orphans Association, the SPOA also renders aid to the families of deceased members.
On August 28, 2018 Officer James Nance was severely injured in an On-Duty motorcycle accident. Please see the following update as of September 7th:
Officer James "Jamie" Nance was involved in a very serious vehicle collision while conducting traffic enforcement on his motorcycle. Since then, Jamie has undergone surgeries, physical therapy, and a multitude of treatments. However, Jamie’s condition continues to improve and his spirits are very high. Soon, Jamie will be transferred to a long term rehabilitation facility to continue his treatment.
Jamie has a very long road ahead of him as he works through his recovery and rehabilitation. Many of his medical expenses will be covered by Workers' Compensation, but there are many more which will not be covered. There will be a great deal of travel and lodging for the family as they continue to support Jamie, along with home modifications and specialty equipment that will be required.
An account has been created at Bank of the West where monetary contributions can be made to assist the Nance family through this long process.
To contribute, please visit any Bank of the West branch and make a deposit into the "James Nance Recovery Fund". If you are unable to get to the bank, please feel free to mail your contributions to the SPOA Office:
